Day 1 at Craftsbury

The skiing is pretty awesome here, with the man made loop, as well as most of the race trails covered in snow and rolled. CSU has been enjoying the sun and the time on snow!

J2 and Buddy Social

Last weekend was a very successful social held at the Homa's house for new J2s and their CSU buddies to meet and get to know each other while their parents were also meeting and greeting elsewhere.  We have a lot of incoming J2s and parents!

Kearsarge II - The Wetness

Thanks to John LaChance for organizing and putting on the two Kearsarge Rollerski races.  Race II was on a lovely fall morning with a nice cold, drizzly, foggy course.  Gavin set a new course record, even with the less than idea rollerskiing conditions, followed by Lewis in 2nd and Max in 3rd.  On the women's side Elissa Bradley came home in 1st, followed by Hadley in 2nd and Meg in 3rd.  Meg put on a fierce kick at the end and stomped me up that last incline to the finish.  Joel Bradley skated home first among the skaters.

Ian MacLellan put together a nice video at:

Prepping for the Gerbil Track

I thought I'd dial my brain into the coming season at Weston by rollerskiing around the middle school parking lot tonight under the lights.  Actually, it was a great workout of speeds on good pavement and nice lights.  But round and round and round as seen on the GPS track.......

The wind is up, the temps are down, the leaves have fallen, the heat is on, the skis are at Bikeway.  In a few short weeks we can look forward to this........

24th CSU Rollerski Race

The CSU Rollerski Race today was good practice for winter.  Steely grey sky, 40F, windy, especially on the back half of the course and about 30 sec. of snow showers (for the first time ever in this race). The light drizzle got the road just damp enough for slower times.  Winners of each division seemed to have no problem with Gavin McEwen cranking out a really good time for first among Jr. Men and Cate Brams for first among Jr. Women.  Chris Stock had a minute on Akeo Maifeld-Carucci for the Sr./Masters Men and Annie Harvieux for Sr. Women.  Further back in the pack things were a bit tighter as Rosie Cobb overtook Clara Cousins after the first uphill to take second.  Frank Feist and Jim Burnham worked together the whole race while a ways behind them Robert, Jamie and Gunther traded positions on lap 1 and then on lap 2 Gunther faded while Robert commented "We've sunk the Bismarck" as he and I continued to try to break each other with Robert prevailing on the last downhill.

A good day was had by all.  Thanks to my volunteers Sue LaChance and Kansas Wight on timing, Tom Smith, Sara-Mae Berman and Larry Berman and Sara Cousins on corners and Jeff Nottonson on video.  Photos below are courtesy of Chris City.  Thanks to Chris Li and Bikeway Source for providing prizes.  Thanks everyone for making this another successful event!
