Lake Placid Road Trip

Matt Voisin, Mass. coach and writer for Faster Skier "working" at the race.

Rebecca Smith fell on the granite rocks at the top of the mountain and cut her legs very nicely.  Greg found a deep mud hole.

3 CSU Juniors on the podium.  Calvin 2nd for the J1/J2 division, Max 3rd.  Julia 3rd.

Entire crew after the race.

Is skiing up a mountain physically challenging?  You know it.  I guess they can fish.

View from the Lake Placid library.  Even study hall was fun on this trip.

Sunday we hiked up Hurricane mountain.

Our second peak of the weekend.  In the background on the right is Whiteface where they skied up on Saturday.

Yeah, those are big muscles.

It ain't a CSU workout without some blood getting spilled.

Littleton in the Sun

We had a smallish group at Littleton today with some off at Lake Placid to climb Whiteface and others off at cross country meets or practice.  I had a little time to get out on the course and catch a little bit of the action.

Littleton Roll

A very nice day for a classic rollerski in Littleton.  Nice weather, not too hot, not too much traffic, plenty of fluids at the CSU pit stops and lots of CSU juniors and masters, Bates and Harvard skiers.  Littleton is rollerski center on Saturdays!

Corey on Fasterskier!

After her trip to the glacier in AK, Fasterskier.com interviewed Corey about what it was like. Here is a link to the article: http://fasterskier.com/2011/08/the-ntg-is-working-corey-stock-on-the-alaska-glacier-camp/.

I think it's a really great step for the USST to have this national training group, because there are so many positive benefits for athletes to work with different coaches and ski with different skiers. Also, skiing on snow in the summer is wicked cool. Very nice article, and thanks again Corey for sending us so many blog updates so we could live vicariously through you!

Corey's Glacier Adventures - Part 2

When we were not skiing or sleeping, we were eating! Each night a different group of girls would prepare dinner! Here is my crew!

Becca Rorabaugh, Jessie Diggins, Kate Fitzgerald, and me (repping CSU )!

One morning, we did skate intervals. They were very hard but being in such a cool place with such a great group of people made them fly by!

Here I am trying to hang on to Chandra Crawford.
Kikkan ripping out some sweet pullups in the strength room!

The whole group!

We eventually had to leave the glacier :’(, but when we got down we decided to go camping for a night in Seward, Alaska. Here we are camping in the base of an empty riverbed!

Left to right: Chandra, Ida, me, Liz, Jessie!

Kikkan brought us on a crazy difficult hike up Mt. Marathon and we were constantly using our hands to help us up. It was a blast!

Me, Kikkan, Ida, Liz, and Jessie trying to find our way down a cliff.

And not only was this a fantastic experience but also I made some amazing friends! Here I am with Liz Stephen!

See you all soon!!
