As many of you know, a few of us are out in Soldier Hollow,
Utah racing at Senior Nationals. Our first race was 10km(2 laps) Classic
Individual Start race for women and 15km(3 laps) for men on the Olympic 5km B
course, a very hilly and tough course! The hills here are long and steep, with the
altitude making it even tougher, but hey, that’s what we are here for! The
following day we had a Skate Sprint race, a new course none of us have raced
before. We had a mix of results with
some athletes happy with their results and others hoping to have done a little
better, but sprints are close and that’s why they are tough. Zoe and Eli
qualified for Junior Heats so after lunch, everyone headed out to cheer for
them! It was really fun to have the whole CSU crowd out there cheering for Zoe
and Eli as they skied their way up to the A Final! Many teams out here
outnumber us in size but it seemed as if we had the biggest cheering crowd out
there and that we are a true team since the athletes, coaches, waxers and
parents all worked together and supported one another. After two days of tough
racing, we got two days off to recover. Some of the parents went hiking or fly-fishing
while us athletes enjoyed some easy skiing in the sun and video technique
sessions with Rob. Oh right, of course we had to do homework as well! Tomorrow
is the Skate Mass Start (5km for Junior Women and 10km for Junior Men). Below
are some pictures and videos my dad and I took, enjoy!
