Jackson's Excellent Adventure in the Andes

Jackson Hardin took a trip to Peru this summer.  Here is his report:

Around Midmorning we, my mother and I, left for the airport. Two flights totaling about 8 hours got us to Lima Peru, where we spent the night in an airport hotel. The next day we truly began the trip driving through Cusco city and to one of many acclimation hikes at about 10,000 feet above sea level. This one, like many others, followed a trail leading up, and through, a set of Incan ruins terraced into the side of a mountain. The trip included many hikes such as this, two through Machu Pichu itself. Towards the end of the trip we left for a final trek, which started at 9000 ft. ended at a little over 13,000, the camps being somewhere in-between. With these adventures and numerous stops to encounter local food and culture this trip was a wonderful way to see, and experience the Peruvian Andes.
